Monastery elects new prioress
March 11th, 2011
On March 11, 2011, nuns re-elected Sr. Miriam of the Cross Scheel, O.P., as their prioress for a second three year term. Sr. Miriam was converted to Catholicism in 1958 at the age of seventeen. She entered the monastery two years later on the 30th of May 1960. She made her first profession May 6, 1962 and was solemnly professed on July 18, 1975. Sr. Miriam was called to serve her monastery in the capacity of prioress, a number of times during her fifty years of religious life. In addition, in 1995, she was appointed prioress of another Dominican monastery in the US, for a period of one year and in 2001 she served as vicaress to a monastery in BC, Canada for six months, while it was still a new foundation. In 2000 she was elected the President of the Conference of Dominican Nuns and at present serves in the capacity of Vice-President of the Association of Nuns of the Order of Preachers in the US which has since replaced the Conference. We wish sister every blessing and our continual support.
